Life is not a rehearsal

‘Life is not a rehearsal’

The above quote stared up at me from a t-shirt recently, as I was shopping in India.

It struck a deep chord within my soul, principally because of one fact. It is true!

And yet, how often do we as individuals stop to reflect on that fact? How often do we stop to savour the moment we are in? The particular moment, the seconds that are making up our minutes, each unique and full of beauty, graceful by itself, just like a drop of rainfall amidst a raging storm.

The altogether too common reality is that our minds are often so busy reflecting on the ghosts of the past or the dreams of the future that we forget to savour the present!

Think back to the moments that you hold most dear to your heart. Chances are that they were intense in some way or another.

Why? The answer is likely in our concentration. It is during the moments of intense experience that we concentrate most, we feel most, we are most present. When our minds are scattered like dust in the wind, our being, our life is similarly diluted, and henceforth partially lost to us.

The truth is, that as we live our lives chasing various hopes and dreams, and avoiding our insecurities, we forget to do one somewhat important thing – and that thing, my friends, is to LIVE!

And so it was, that one fine day I decided to take the advice of the wise, and do something new with my life. I decided to start living it.

What follows, my friends is a chronicle of some of the adventures along the way. Some may be exciting, some relatively mundane, but they are all special. They are as special as any of the moments in any of your lives.

My humble hope in sharing them is to bring some aspect of the joy that I have experienced in each of them, to you.

In friendship and pure love,

A.R.D
